Solving Metamorphosis- Chapter 1 "I Am NOT A Romantic"

Interview (1 of 3)

How does Man transform into Phallus?(Dickhead) or Anus?(Asshole)and how does Woman become Cannis?(Bitch).  Unlocking the mystery of metamorphosis revealed more of the man who dared ask than of the mystery itself.

Inspector Javier T. will be remembered  for his restless, ruthless but fruitless quest to destroy the only smear in his career, the one that got away- Juan Del Valle Juan, the ever elusive fugitive  and former pandesal thief. However, the Inspector is also famous for putting to justice (dead or alive) more or less a thousand criminals.

Furthermore,  as popular as he is with the guilty, many will be surprised at how he also championed the innocent. The correspondence between our former staff and the Inspector would introduce a different man from the one known as "The Sword of God".

The Interview took place one starry night, 18th of April, 2036, at the sari-sari store of the Inspector, just 2 weeks before his untimely death. Previously he hinted that he was close to cracking the mystery of metamorphosis and called our publication. He demanded that he first edit the interview before Our Daily Abyss put it in print. We agreed but he never sent it back. Weeks after the Inspector's death, his manservant, his closest acquaintance, sent the unedited manuscript to us. In honor of the restless inspector, what follows is the unedited version of the interview that transpired.

Our Daily Abyss (ODA):   What is  the cause of metamorphosis, tell us all about it and does taking this case mean that you are giving up the manhunt for Del Valle Juan?

Inspector Javier T:   First of all,  Justice doesn't care. That should be clear with you. This is my duty.  Secondly, Justice never sleeps. Di kita tatantanan Juan Del Valle Juan!

ODA:   Apologies, detective.

Inspector Javier T:    None required. AND I solve crimes not only of the physical nature but also of the metaphysical ones. Circulating among our citizenry is the circular reasoning that it was Phallus who drew first blood and created Cannis.

Thus the verdict, "Behind Every Bitch is a Man that made her that way".  We have wrongly accused Phallus! for basically you have to ask, who made Phallus? And are women weak and easy preys? I will serve Justice...for both.

ODA:  I Get your point sir,  how does the transformation happen then?

Inspector Javier T:   I hope you do. Metamorphosis begins when dreams die, in the many ways they die.

ODA:   Dreams? dying? How inspector?

Inspector Javier T: That is not yet the question.

ODA: ...What is this dream?

Inspector Javier T:   Yes, Let us start with the dream.

We rarely realize, but traces of this dream is smeared on the most miniscule and mundane moments of human drama. With every millisecond you spend extending a hug more than it should be, inside those long moments when eyes meet and lock, with wanting and needing and longing. Of union.

When hands touch hands clutching tighter knowing that losing the other is just a blink away, there is a dream. With every word uttered in sincerity: I. Love. You.- when the "I" becomes "Us" when "Forever." Is uttered.

Therein lies the dream that defies even the inevitable and logical end. If the end happens and the curtains are closing, dreams play a role in the encore act of not letting go.

That is just the tip of the iceberg, how, when and where you see this dream.

Yes, is what is it?

ODA:     I'm sorry Inspector I did not mean to interrupt, please continue BUT I have to say, I expected you to mention motive but dreams?, we have not know you to be well versed in the matters of the heart, this is the first time we heard you talk like that, you are a roma-

Inspector Javier T:          Let me cut you there,  I am NOT a romantic. I don't prattle with romance and waste words. it is my job to understand people, the lies and dreams they create and the games they play. I don't need to tell you why.

Juan Del Valle Juan transformed from an innocent little boy to a heartless thief, was caught, incarcerated, became the most trusted and behaved prisoner. He escaped, became a silly priest' s favorite boy and was given the church's money,  with it he became a wealthy shampoo factory owner/operator. How did this thief become the mayor?  It thought it was just a case of many masks. Metamorphosis. Now he was last seen as a gardener??

Fast track to the greater scheme of things. If we understand metamorphosis we will know how Homo Sapien could turn into Crocodilus. How Gibran's Prophet could become Machiavelli's Prince. If we could predict, think of the lives- not to mention money from corruption - we could save and the would be criminals we could capture!

ODA:     Save by arresting criminals before they become criminals? Inspector, that would be arresting people based solely on suspicion.

Inspector Javier T: Suspicion? Or science? Psychology! Once the law provides we will, I will. Still, I also ask myself whether this metamorphosis is a corruption or a necessary step in evolution? Thus the investigation.

And I am NOT a romantic.

ODA:     Noted..Inspector, Please do tell us more about these dreams, what are they? How do they die?

Inspector Javier T:  Let us go back to Phallus and Cannis, and still further- back in time.

(we were unable to recover a page containing a minor exchange wherein the Inspector motioned for a kape barako break while our Former reporter and the Inspector both indulged in the latter's favorite hobby-stargazing)
